Our mission statement:

  To share our gift of quality homemade baked goods; for you, your family & friends to enjoy.  It is our hope that you find our special creations comforting, delicious & divine.

Our Story...

The first thing we must tell you, is we're from the great state of TEXAS & are 4th generation TX Czech's...and proud of it!!

 We're the bakery with a funny name.  How do you pronounce it, you might ask...Ma-ha'-chek, it's Czech.  Or...as Wendy, our hairdresser suggested to us, "I'ma hot chick...without the "I"...so it would be "ma-hot-check".

We chose to name our company after my grandparents, who are Czech.  Here is some background about my family history.  Prior to Czechoslovakia, the area was known as Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia.  These three areas made up what is currently known as Czech Republic.  My paternal great-grandparents came from Bohemia, (the western section of current Czech Republic) in 1898 and my maternal great and great-great grandparents came from Moravia (eastern section) in 1902, all entering the United States through the Port of Galveston.  The Machacek's settled in Fayetteville, Texas before moving to Olmos, Bee County, Texas, working like most early Texas Czechs as tenant farmers.

We pride ourselves in quality, taste & freshness We go the extra lengths to ensure we can satisfy any sweet tooth!! So please...INDULGE!!

More facts about us:

We take safety very serious and would like to ensure you that it is of the utmost importance in preparing our foods.  We also know & understand that it is a top priority, for you, when making a decision to purchase & consume foods, especially over the web.  We would like to ensure each of you that we practice safe food handling methods; are a fully licensed & registered establishment and each have our Food Manager Certificates and our employees have their Food Handling Permits.

We have just opened our new store, Machacek Bakery & Market.  It's a small country grocery store located in Strawn, TX. 
We also offer hand cut meats, fresh deli meats and cheeses, bakery, fresh produce & dairy, along with our groceries.  To go along with our delicious baked goods, we offer a "light" Sandwich Shoppe menu as well as Hunt Brothers Pizza, that you can eat here or take it to go.  Call us for "the feature of the day". 

Our building was built in the mid 20's with an antique meat locker, built in 1928.  We also have an antique cutting table where we cut our own meats.  It's a site to see!!
